Born in communist Poland in late 1950’s, and living her youth life behind the Iron Curtain, growing up Ewa never imagined living in a free world.

Unexpectedly and fortunately for her, while studying Russian language in Moscow in 1980, she met a Texan.  After a short courtship, they were married in Poland in December 1980, and in February of the following year she was able to leave Poland.

She and her husband came to San Angelo in 1984, where they raised three children.  Since 1993 she has taught Russian language at Angelo State University.

Ewa cherishes fond memories of her childhood growing up in the simple life of a Polish village, but remembers that life being shadowed by an oppressive government imposed upon her homeland by the Soviet Union following World War II.
